Most teenagers and young girls don't realize that they may be in danger when they are online visiting their favorite social networks and chat rooms. Parents don't always educate their kids on Internet safety. To assist parents of young girls the Girl Scouts of America has created a fun interactive website that teaches them all about Internet safety.

LMK, or
Let Me Know features a team of
teenage editors and was put together by the Girl Scouts and Windows "to provide parents with the skills and knowledge to help keep their families safe online and to empower girls to become leaders of safe and responsible use of technology."
LMK features interactive quizzes, videos, and expert articles to be informed about online safety in a fun way. Girls can comment on the site content, sharing their thoughts, experiences and perspectives on topics many teens face everyday, like cyberbullying and social networking. New content is posted periodically and will cover twelve different areas related to being a teen online today. Teens can even download an interactive patch they can share on social networking sites like Facebook, just by registering for the site at no cost. Best of all, it’s for all teenagers, not just Girl Scouts!

Parents can also sign up for their free
newsletter put together by their team of
teen editors. These young editors share what they know about the ways teens use technology. Their newsletter also teaches parents the need-to-know skills to keep them up to speed with what their kids are doing online. Expert advice is also offered to give guidance on tougher issues.
If you have a young girl visit
LMK with her. This is a fun site for girls and your daughter will learn all she needs to know in order to be safe online.
