Franky

Posted Oct 05 2009 10:03pm

It's been a while since I've done a purely "Franky" post, so here goes =)

At just over 12 months (has it really been a year already?), you are constantly learning and discovering new things, and forever causing my heart to swell bigger than I ever imagined was possible. You have three teeth that are fully poked through, and three more that are just barely cutting (and causing you much discomfort. Thank goodness for teething tabs and Tylenol!). You are a walking machine, and love to make a mad dash for the stairs, which you climb at record speeds, ha!

You have figured out how to open and close doors, cabinets and drawers, and use every opportunity to go digging whenever I turn my head for more than two seconds. You are also learning to fit objects into places. Your favorite thing right now is to try to fit shapes into your shape sorter. Sometimes you get it, sometimes you don't. You try, nonetheless.

You have developed a very large appetite for everything other than baby food. Canned mush no longer interests you (not that it ever really did) and you seem only interested in meal times when you can eat what mommy or daddy are eating, which is fine by us. Makes meal preparations that much easier. Clean-up, however, is a whole other story. Being that you aren't interested in me feeding you, you make a humongous mess while feeding yourself, but hey, at least you're eating =)

The last time I took your measurements, just a few days before your birthday, you weighed 23.5 lbs and measured 31.5 inches tall. We'll see how accurate my measurements were at your next check-up in a few days.

Your vocabulary consists of the following words: "Mama," "Dada," "Baba," "Nee Nee" and "Hi." Even though I may not understand everything you're saying, you sure let it be known that you are having a full conversation, whether it's with me, daddy, or your stuffed Cookie Monster.

I am so loving this age. I love being able to feed Franky new things, let him feed himself (a little bit of apple cider and a cinnamon doughnut at the cider mill the other day), and set him down to walk around wherever we are. Like the grocery store. Oh man, does he love to "discover" new things =)
