Domestic Violence

Posted Mar 09 2009 3:14pm

Click To Empower. Brought to you by The Allstate Foundation. am an avid reader of the celebrity news. I recently came across an article where Chris Brown allegedly battered singer, Rihanna. This may come ask a shock to some of you, as it did me, but domestic violence happens every single day. I have seen friends and family members go through domestic violence, and it saddening and hard to deal with. One in four women will experience some type of domestic violence in their lifetime. Often, women feel as though it is their fault, or they have caused the problem. Violence is intentional and purposeful behavior. The effects of domestic violence can last a lifetime and leaving can be difficult. Help is always available, many people experience violence, but only a few talk about it. Here at PJ Mommy, we are trying to raise awareness about domestic violence and educate each and everyone of our readers about the causes, the effects, and how to cope. Click to Empower is a site for “Real People with Real Stories.” The Click to Empower website has been redesigned with more informational and tools. You can now:

*Find Resources
*Start a Conversation
*Spread the Word
*Engage with Social Networking Tools

I encourage everyone to visit the Click to Empower website and educate themselves. Violence does not always have to be physical, and can be emotional. If you or someone you know is suffering from domestic violence, please seek help. Help is available 24 hours a day by calling the National Domestic Violence Hotline telephone number at 1–800–799–SAFE (7233). (Or call the hotline’s TTY number at 1–800–787–3224.)
