After "N's" party yesterday we decided that we probably should start going back to church. I have kept meaning to learn the bible and have wanted to sit down with it but I get "distracted" and there is no excuse for it.
The new sermon is geared towards men being "warriors". I thought it was a good service, it was called The Distracted Warrior, meaning how they can distracted by materialistic, sexual and self made pride. I really think you need to check it out on the Podcast, they are free and are put out every Tuesday and you can get it here. I don't say that very often but really check it out because I think this series can help your family so we as women can see our men and God with truly open eyes and be at the same level with them. I haven't been to our church in many months but I will be going back to the beginning of this series and watch it. I think Paul did a really good job with the service and he picked a really good passage which if you have a bible or if not I would Google 1 John 2:14-17. It's different in the way John is writing a letter to all Christians saying:
14 I write to you, fathers,
because you have known him who is from the beginning.
I write to you, young men,
because you are strong,
and the word of God lives in you,
and you have overcome the evil one.
Do Not Love the World
15 Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For everything in the world—the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does—comes not from the Father but from the world. 17 The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever.
This service is good because it was geared towards men but can also be used for women, we all need to become "warriors" and I will be looking forward to the rest of this series and will update you as I can about the series.
I know that I need to start putting more faith in HIM because of last year with my health. Back after I was diagnosed Pastor Don had this service and it really hit home and I really almost cried and realized that I was given a second chance at life and I still haven't been going down the right path. You know it's like the beginning of a new year and you jump in head first then after a little while you go back to your old ways and I have to say I have gone back to that and need to change it.
