The online destination was created by the founders of the Coupon Sherpa iPhone application, which allows shoppers to access coupons on their iPhone and iPod Touch.
In the U.S.A., we cherish our coupons. Amid the sluggish economy, that love affair has escalated. Yet sifting through the myriad of Sunday morning newspaper circulars and direct mail ads is time consuming. So is searching for coupons on the Internet. With this in mind, Coupon Sherp a has debuted as a comprehensive resource where consumers can find online coupons, printable coupons and grocery coupons along with a free, downloadable iPhone application that provides access to mobile coupons.
It was the iPhone application created by two brothers – Luke and Jesse Knowles – that sparked the idea for the expanded Coupon Sherpa web site. Launched in April, the Coupon Sherpa iPhone application allows iPhone and iPod Touch users to access in-store coupons from their mobile device and present that coupon to the cashiers at participating merchants.
The Knowles received such an overwhelming response to the iPhone application that they decided to expand Coupon Sherpa into a one-stop online destination for coupons.
“In this economy, people are looking for every opportunity to save money,” Luke Knowles said. “ Coupon Sherpa is the premiere online destination for coupons that consumers can use while shopping on the Internet and in bricks-and-mortar locations.”
Not only does Coupon Sherpa save bargain hunters time by featuring online shopping coupons, printable coupons, grocery store coupons and mobile coupons in one place, but it also has quality control measures in place to ensure that coupons on the site are accurate and current.
“One of the biggest drawbacks to many coupon sites is that a high percentage of the coupon codes are expired or don’t work,” Knowles said. “To alleviate this issue, we work directly with the retailers regarding the coupons and have stringent quality control measures to make sure our coupons are up-to-date and accurate.”
Coupons on Coupon Sherpa are searchable by category, keyword, or store name. The site is also interactive and encourages visitors to participate. Consumers can post comments about coupons and share their favorite coupons via Twitter. On the home page of each section, coupons are ranked in terms of votes they receive from users for a 24-hour period, a seven-day time frame and all-time. For example, on a recent day, a coupon for $3 off any Ambi Skincare product was ranked number one in a 24-hour period in the Grocery Store Coupons section. In the Online Coupons section, a $5 off orders over $50 coupon at Target’s web site was ranked first.
Coupon Sherpa is the namesake of the cartoon character whose image graces the home page of the site. The Knowles have created a family of cartoon characters called “ The Frugals ” to promote their network of frugal living sites. Mr. Free Stuff is a site where visitors can find free samples and free products. Mrs. Sweepstakes is a source of online sweepstakes and contests.
In the next 12 months, the Knowles plan to introduce other frugal living sites dedicated to gift cards and rebates among other subjects. The next step for Coupon Sherpa is a section called “Ask Coupon Sherpa,” which will allow consumers to pose questions about coupons that will be answered on Twitter and the web site.
Coupon Sherpa is a comprehensive resource where consumers can find accurate and up-to-date online coupons, printable coupons and grocery coupons along with a free, downloadable iPhone application that provides access to mobile coupons.
