Check Out Street Surfing’s New Whiplash: The Scooter with a Twist!

A few months ago, I reviewed Street Surfing’s Wave Ripple, which has been described as a combination of “surfing, snowboarding and skateboarding.” It’s really awesome, but riding it was a little bit challenging for my five-year-old twins. So, I was thrilled to find out that Street Surfing now makes something called a Whiplash, which can best be described as “part scooter, part wave board,” and a lot of fun! The Whiplash can still move from side to side like the Wave Ripple, but it has handlebars like a scooter, so it’s easier for younger ones to balance and control. My boys absolutely love the Whiplash! Like the Wave Ripple, if kids get really good on it, they can self-propel it so their feet never touch the ground. Or, if they’re just starting out, they can ride it like a traditional scooter with a foot down.
Click HERE to watch a video of the Whiplash in action! Notice how the back wheel pivots completely around so that kids can really weave with a twisting motion.
And check out this picture of one of my sons riding the Whiplash. (Yes, I know he should be wearing a helmet. He was just in our driveway when we took this photo. Please make sure that your children always wear appropriate safety gear when riding a Whiplash, Wave Ripple, scooter or anything similar.) My son is still learning, so he rides it more like a traditional scooter. Kids who "master" the Whiplash stand sideways, with their feet apart, to really control their ride.
Visit www.whiplashscooter.com to find out more about the amazing Whiplash and locate a retailer. This would make a fabulous gift for a child or grandchild in elementary or middle school who’s ready to take a step up from the traditional scooter. And you’ll love that its extra long handle folds down so it’s easy to store.
