Cerebellitis?

My 9 year old has recently been diagnosed with Acute Cerebellitis. The doctors aren't able to tell us the cause for this. We follow a vegetarian diet and abstain from fish and eggs as well.
What could be the possible causes for this and what kind of a precaution should I take to avoid this in future?
