The PBS Kids show Arthur has long been a favorite at our house. Well chalk another good one up for Marc Brown and the gang over at PBS because "Big Brother Binky" - Parts I & II is very well done and considerably more accurate than most media representations of Chinese adoption.
In it, Binky's family decides to adopt a baby girl from China. Binky receives the news of getting a baby sister with plenty of enthusiasm and helps prepare their home for her arrival and to go to China to get her. As any child would though, he has moments of anxiety of how his life will change, how his parents will treat him once she is home and if she will even like him. Eventually they get their referral, get all packed and head to China to get her. The whole thing was very simular to how it really was! Too cool! It is currently airing on PBS so check your local station for airdates.
