have you noticed something? Every time for the last 12 days, that we try to do a giving project we run into hiccups! Coincidence? Hmmm. Anyhow, we put together a food hamper with gifts and everything. The girls and I made paper chains for decorating, and we had a ton of fun! We’ve been trying to deliver this pkg since Monday.
The problem? SNOW. And lots of it. So much snow that in one weekend our city’s entire ANNUAL budget for snow removal is gone! Our street hasn’t been plowed since the snow began last week - we now have over a foot of snow - unheard of in Vancouver! Our cars are stuck, our government buildings, and private sectors are closed down too. The shopping has taken a huge hit over this season because of it.
And. I have a turkey in my mudroom. And presents, potatoes, and cranberries. And I’m very sad that we can’t make this family from Peru’s Christmas a little more lovely. I am snowed in. My contact at the immigration and cultural services office is not able to get to her office to even get the phone number and address of the recipients.
So I called the City. I got the cell phone of the Manager of Programs and Projects. He is currently trying to get a key and password to break into the building to retreive the address…
Next on the list - call the tow truck companies to ask for a volunteer delivery driver… I am determined to get this gift to them TODAY.
Prayers are appreciated…. I SO feel like Santa today… Woot!
