2010 (looks cool, huh?)

Posted Jan 03 2010 12:00am
Well happy new year, everyone!  I for one was a big fan of 2009 - a pretty good year.  Really not one I could complain about, but I do love the promise of a new year.  The whole blank slate, new beginning, opportunity to start something good - I like that.  We'll get to that later.

We had a really nice Christmas and an even nicer winter break.  Charlotte's been home from school since the 23rd and Mr. P has been home from work for the most part since the 24th.  He's been into the office a few times and has worked a bit from home but it's been nice having them both home.

Which is not to say that I'll be crying at the door tomorrow when they leave.  Because believe you me I won't be.  As nice as togetherness is, getting back into our routine and back into the swing of things is even nicer!  Furthermore, another few days of jammies until noon and we may permanently become sloths.  But seriously, though, we've played in the snow (the kids and Mr. P to be 100% honest), hung out, watched TV, ridden the subway, lunched out, stayed up late and now it's time to get back down to business.  School starts back up tomorrow and I don't know who is more excited, Charlotte or me.

(I'd guess me.)

Let's see.  I took Charlotte for her first manicure today.  She's been asking for probably as long as she could talk (so, probably a year, give or take) for "pink sparkly fingernails" so today we went.   She was so good at home over vacation that I figured she's earned it.  She selected a vibrant electric purple that I explained was for "girls who have turned 8" so I showed her the colors that "girls who are almost 4 (!) can choose" and she chose High Maintenance by Essie.

You think?

Honestly, for 5 bucks, it was adorable.  She sat nicely, let her nails dry and has gazed upon them non-stop ever since.  Now I fear that I've created a monster and she'll be asking to go every week but that's ok.   She can ask away but not even mama goes every week!

What else.  Resolution wise, it's the same old same old around here.  Lose weight, work out more, be a more patient mother, the stuff I work on all year long.  My ONE big resolution is to get up an hour before the girls during the week. I've fallen into a really bad habit of rolling out of bed once I hear them talking in their rooms, and that's no good.  It makes the morning feel rushed, and I'm a fairly organized person.  So, Monday through Friday I'm resolving to get up between 6 and 6:30, shower (or not), pull myself together and be ready for the day.  When I leave the house to bring Charlotte to school, Claire is always with me and 4 out of the 5 days now Claire and I have an activity immediately after drop off - and if we don't, I run errands.  So I'm hoping my mornings run more smoothly and I will keep you posted on how that goes.

I'd also like to resolve to blog more - so I'll put it out there in the hopes that I actually get to it!  How about you guys?  Any big resolutions?  Also, anyone work out at Boston Sports Club?  I just joined and am PSYCHED with it so far.

Time to fold clothes and iron for the week - more tomorrow.
