Times certainly have changed. No longer do dads have to carry around girly diaper bags that are covered in Pooh Bear, flowers or anything frilly. Dads today want a diaper bag that they can call their own and one that they don’t mind carrying around from dad to day. They want a bag that’s durable, versatile and one that looks like it was made for a man - simple as that.
Nowadays there are tons of bag options for cool dads. I’ve been doing some research and I’ve found some great diaper bags that any dad would not mind carrying around. I found some awesome diaper bags that you wouldn’t normally find when you Google the term “ diaper bags ”.
Some of these are more expensive than others and a lot of these we’re originally designed to be used as a diaper bag. However, all of these bags should adequately handle whatever dads and babies can throw at them. Plus, when your kids grow up, dads will have a sweet bag to use for work, the gym or even some travel.
In no particular order, here are 15 manly diaper bags for every kind of dad.
Known for their high-quality fishing and travel gear, the Filson Tin Cloth Tote would certainly add style and functionality to any dad. Plus, when it’s time to go fishing, you’ll already have a great travel bag!
Over the years, Filson’s philosophy has never changed: make sure it’s the absolute best. Clinton Filson spent a lot of time talking to his customers and refining his designs to their specifications. So it’s not surprising that the items that worked then still work today, over 100 years later. Comfort, protection and durability never go out of style.
Ok, so you might have to have Brad Pitt kind of money to afford one of these but if you just have to have his diaper bag, then look no further. The Jama Nanny comes in 9 different finishes and, if you can afford it, buy it without the flower.
The Dad Gear Billboard bags come in a whopping 77 different color combinations! These bags are really cool - they’re literally made from recycled billboards so each one is unique. If that’s not cool enough, each of these bags sport a quick-access wipes case so you can wipe snotty noses on the fly.
Similar to the Dad Gear bags above, Freitag makes their bags from recycled truck tarps, safety belts and bicycle inner tubes. The Dragnet Messenger is a great size bag to use as a diaper bag and since it’s made from old truck tarps, you know it’ll stand up to some abuse.
While you’re there, check out the Design Your Own Bag tool and you’ll have the most custom bag of any dad at day care.
No words, other than bad ass, can describe Killspencer bags. These things have Riri Aquazip waterproof zippers, Cobra quick release buckles and all black military spec hardware. But, all that bad ass-ness doesn’t come cheap. These are not as expensive as the Jamah bags but at least you seem to get more for the money with these bags.
Available in over 25 color combinations, the Chrome Citizen Messenger would make one tough-as-nails diaper bag. Although Chrome’s main customers are bike messengers in major metropolitan areas, their bags would stand up to the daily wear-and-tear of dad-hood. Check out this quote from the Chrome About page:
Chrome was founded in Boulder, CO by a couple of guys who needed a bag that lasted forever. They began sewing in their garage using the toughest material they could find. A company came out of that with a philosophy of building stuff that would function well in tough conditions and would last a lifetime.
The Budapest “M” CONTINENTAL bag is made from 6 punctured bicycle inner tubes and sports a cool, clean look for dads who like to keep it simple. This bad is only available on the Supermarket website so don’t bother looking anywhere else - I’ve already tried.

I’ve carried different types of Timbuk2 bags over the last 12 years and I’ve never had any problems. My wife and I currently use a Timbuk2 Tote as our primary diaper bag and although it has seen better days, it still works like it did on day one. Check out what Timbuk2 has to say about durability:
To its owner, a Timbuk2 bag is a dependable, everyday companion. We see fierce, emotional attachments form between Timbuk2 customers and their bags all the time. A well-worn Timbuk2 bag has a certain patina– the stains and scars of everyday urban adventures. Many Timbuk2 bags are worn daily for a decade, or more, accompanying the owner through all sorts of defining life events. True to our legend of “indestructibility”, it’s not uncommon for a Timbuk2 bag to outlive jobs, personal relationships, even pets
The Alchemy Goods Urban is another bag that uses recycled material to make one sweet bag. Similar to the Chrome bags, these bags are made primarily for bike messengers but would be well suited in the front seat of your car or on the playground.
Every Alchemy Goods bag purchased represents one less part of our world destroyed. That’s why all our products should have the highest possible recycled content, but also be superbly functional and aesthetically pleasing.
The Ju Ju Be Messenger is the first real diaper bag on the list. This great looking diaper bag is well thought out and that includes a dad’s panel (key clip, pen holder, pda case and cell phone pocket) and a dad pocket that can hold and clean your sunglasses.
Mustard Sprout is a company just for dads and their Marshall is a well thought out diaper bag for dads. The cool thing about this bag is that it doesn’t scream the words “diaper bag”. Lots of pockets, a built in diaper pad and removable insulated water-proof snack pack will make you the coolest dad on the block.
What dad wouldn’t want to sport a manly diaper bag and promote his favorite NFL team at the same time? If that’s you, check out the Jersey Messenger bags from LittleEarth. If you’re not a Titans fan, just select any one of the other NFL teams from the left hand menu.
These bags use authentic team jersey material and graphics and include a team logo embroidered patch.
The Acme Made Clyde is a durable, clean looking bag that would make a sweet diaper bag for any dad. It has nine pockets, trust me; you’ll need them, and a front “catch-all” pocket to hold whatever you can’t. Acme Made even admits that some dads use this bag for baby duty:
heck it’s even used a lot as a dad’s bag - it is a roomy, waterproof, baby bag that doesn’t look like, ummm, a baby bag
A great, classic looking bag, the Phinneas bag from Sundance, has tons of pockets and a serious sense of style. This bag looks like it was plucked straight out of an Indiana Jones movie and looks durable enough to tackle formula bottles and diapers as well as nasty Nazi’s.
