I never been one to wear much jewelery, but earrings are something that I've always enjoyed. When I was in junior high multiple piercings were just starting to become popular, and I remember begging my mom for what seemed like forever to get my ears double pierced. My favorite way to wear the double piercing was with two sets of hoop earrings.
Over the years I have owned very few nice pieces of jewelry. My parents got me a pair of diamond studs for Christmas one year when I was in high school. I felt so sophisticated with them, and pulled them out for every special occasion.
Fast forward many years later. We lived in a house where our bedroom was on the third floor. Kellen was about three, and he got into my jewelry box. Of course, he found the small box where I kept the nicer things.
That same day he also discovered how to take the vent cover off the heating vent in our bedroom. Can you see where this is going? I walked into the room to see an empty jewelry box on the floor, and him dangling a silver chain down the vent. What fun to watch mommy's pretties fall down the vent! The necklace was saved. The rest, including my diamond earrings, are probably still sitting somewhere in the heating ducts on that house.
