It's almost impossible to eat organic...

when traveling. I went snowboarding at Dodge Ridge this past weekend and realized how difficult it is to find organic items outside the Bay Area.

Solution for next snowboarding trip: Bring organic food.

If you're traveling you can always call the local chamber of commerce at your destination and inquire about the availability of organic foods. If you're unsure you should always take some of your own. There are still many parts of the country where it's nearly impossible to get anything organic.

Don't forget to try Walmart. They are keeping a small selection of organic produce now and it's getting bigger all the time.

I'm completely spoiled. I live in Santa Cruz and even our local grocery is almost all organic. And affordable too.

Mary Ann,

Thanks for the great advice. I would not have thought to call the local chamber of commerce, but that's a great way to find out what's around.

Candice,

I too am spoiled, so it didn't even occur it would be a problem until it was too late. I'll be prepare next time...

I know that big chain grocery stores like Safeway have added organic sections of produce and other food items so you might want to search those out when you're traveling. Usually, there are also mom and pop health-food stores in remote areas that sell health food and organic produce. It's just a matter of researching the area before you head out...or simply packing a cooler with your own stuff!
