I love to get gift certificates. I hate to give them. Is that just wrong?
I love to get them. I often use them to make frugal purchases, but feel I can make some small indulgences when I'm shopping with a gift card. It is a treat.
I hate giving them because we work with a limited budget. Through frugal shopping, and making items myself, I feel I can give a gift that has a larger worth then I actually have cash for. Hard to increase the value of gift card.
But sometimes you are just stuck for an idea, and a gift certificate is the only option that seems feasible. I'm at that point with one person on my list.
So I started thinking about where to get a gift certificate, and I saw in the Ebates hot deals, that you can get rebates on gift card purchases through Ebates. On their last minute holiday gift ideas page they list merchants offering gift card. If there isn't a store that particularly interests you, gift certificates. com allows you to purchase a prepaid debit card, and you earn 4% back on your purchase.
It doesn't make a huge difference, but every little bit does help. That works for me!
