I have had this very same problem as soon as 2 days after I left the hospital from a Nissen Fundoplication (which is to treat acid reflux, but also requires a restriction of the top of the stomach, similar to the lap band proceedure), and it continues now, 5 years after my surgery. Once, the pain was so bad that I went to the ER and they thought I was having a heart attack (I was 26 and in otherwise good health.) The EKG showed my heart was normal, but the level-10 pain in my shoulder would not subside until they knocked me unconscious with pain medicine. No one has ever been able to explain to me what the cause of this is. I wish I had more answers for you.
