Menu Labeling: Legal and Policy Considerations

Posted Sep 07 2008 8:37pm

by Carly Keidel

I want to let our readers know about two new Rudd publications concerning the potential of menu labeling to effect positive changes in public health. This
new Rudd Reportpresents information to assist policy makers and interested citizens in determining whether menu labeling is a viable alternative for their constituents and communities. It provides a stand-alone fact sheet, and gives an example of calorie information with a menu labeling policy, public opinion polling data, arguments for and against a policy, and a compilation of relevant scientific studies. And ina paperpublished this month in the American Journal of Public Health, the Rudd Center's Kelly Brownell and Jennifer Pomeranz discuss the legal and public health considerations of menu labeling legislation.
