Yesterday was the one year anniversary of my first post on this blog! Exactly one year ago, I had had enough. I knew I really
hadto do something different (since I had already tried every diet known to man), so I just jumped in here and started my own fat blog. I weighed 278 pounds, and I was MISERABLE. You can read my very first post
here. (More early posts are in the archives. Links on the left sidebar.)
I remember thinking, "this has got to stop. I cannot even function anymore. I can barely walk." I was on vacation at the beach when I took these pictures in the mirror. Here is what I looked like one year ago:

And here is me today, at 214 pounds, in size 18 jeans. And holding the same pair of 3x pants that I was wearing above. (I am just HOLDING them. I was not even STRETCHING them out. When I wore them last year, they were tight!)

I feel so amazing. Just look at what one year can do! Where could you be in just one year? I never thought this was possible!!
And one more shot: this watch used to be tight on my wrist. Here it is today:

It has been a wonderful year. Lots of things have happened... some great, some terrifying, some exciting, and some heartbreaking. Such is life. But what a blessing this blog has been! Not just a place to vent and record my efforts, but a place where I have met so many inspiring people and made good friends. The blog has become the heartbeat of my weight loss. The support you all give me is like a big giant hug (at times) or a huge shove in the right direction (at other times). I am thrilled to have lost 64 pounds this year, and I hope to lose plenty more in the coming year.
Thank you all for reading and for being there. [Insert corny Hallmark card sentiments here.] Here's to another healthy and successful year for us all!
