Plug it.

Okay. I don't want to sound negative. I am not a grouchy biddy of a labor and delivery nurse just yet.

I, in fact, love labor and delivery. I love pushing with moms... I love watching them experience that moment where they meet their child. That beautiful moment where they fall in love... no strings attached... with a miracle.

That aside. (Just wanted to make sure we are all clear... I LOVE what I do... sincerely.)

I do have one request.

Please. I beg of you.

Do not come to the hospital if you think you lost your mucus plug.

Please do not give to me descriptive details of what your mucus plug looked like, especially color and texture.

The mucus plug is not like a drain in the bath tub. When it becomes unplugged, everything does not drain out. I promise.

Most importantly, please do not... ever... under no circumstances... bring your mucus plug to the hospital in an emptied plastic butter tub... You may be proud of it, you may be excited... but it does not impress me. Sorry.

What does impress me? Ruptured membranes. This I want to see, this I want to check out.

Furthermore, if you insist of not parting ways with your mucus plug and if against my better judgement bring the said mucus plug to the hospital...most certainly do not show your mucus plug to the nurse... (i.e. ME)

Thank you.
