There is a debate about whether or not it is necessary to change an injection needle after drawing up medications.
Some literature says that the needles used today for injections are much sharper than those used previously and changing a needle each time you draw up a medication is not necessary.
Our current policy is not to change the needle if only one vial has been used BUT if two or more vials are penetrated for the medications needed, changing the needle before giving the injection is ok.
Your thoughts on this??
