GOV’T AGENCIES

Posted Apr 11 2009 12:50am

Okei… So I’ve only been here for a couple of weeks. All I should do is be patient right? Be nice to people and not be nasty. Believe me, I’m trying. But my experience the last few days had been unbelievable that I really have to write about it.

I noticed last week that my nursing license is already expired. I couldn’t believe that 3 years had already passed since I last renewed it. I called up my good friend to ask her if she could come with me to PRC (Professional Regulations Commission) to renew our license, because hers will also expire on November. She said okei and we made plans.

Thursday, March 22. We met at Jollibee Monumento and had breakfast. After eating, we then rode the jeepney to go to Recto where the PRC is located.

In Recto, we were extremely clutching our purses because we’re afraid that at any time, somebody could “accidentally” bumped against us and we’ll be too busy chatting away to notice that our mobile phones and wallets have gone with the “wind”!

When we reached PRC, we noticed that there was this sign posted in the entrance gate.

NO ID, NO ENTRY.

NO Sandos, sleeveless tops and shorts allowed.

NO Sandals and slippers allowed.

I was like, WHAT??? No sandals and sleeveless tops?! Are you freaking serious?

YES. They are!

Good thing, I was not wearing a sleeveless top and sandals. I showed the guard my PRC ID and I was allowed inside.

My friend was not so lucky though. She didn’t have her ID with her and as much as we explained to the security guard that she was there to renew her license, our pleas were not heard at all.

Another woman was there at the gate unfortunately wearing a blue tank top and sandals. Obviously, she was not aware of the “policy” and I mean, she was wearing what makes her comfortable in the blazing summer heat. It’s not like she wore it in a disgusting or provocative manner. She was told by the guard that she need to wear something else and buy socks to put on her feet! She was just surprised! Called somebody on her mobile phone and told the person on the other line what had happened.

Anyway, I was already inside. My friend went to a bookstore to kill time while waiting for me. I went to the Information section and asked where I could get the forms for renewal and he pointed to where I’m supposed to go.

Inside the building, I saw this big hanging sign just above the desk where I’m supposed to get the forms. The sign is about the step by step procedure for the EXPRESS APPLICATION. I read through it and then went on the end of the line to ask for the forms. When it was my turn, I told the guy on the desk that I’ll be renewing my license. He asked what profession and told him NURSING. He then pointed to the other guy sitting beside him and so I waited for my turn at the end of the line.

When I was already infront of the 2nd guy, I told him exactly what I said to the 1st guy. I was expecting him to give me the form. Instead he asked me if I want EXPRESS. I asked him what express means and in a rude freaking way, he said “Ayan ‘o. Basahin mo! (There, read it!)”.

I said (while holding my composure), “Ok. I’ll take express then.”

But instead of giving me the form, he pointed to the 1st guy! By that time, I was already pissed off!

The 1st guy was looking at me and asked me again what profession. I just looked at both them and put my hand up and told them, “NEVER MIND!” and stormed out.

I was fuming mad and called up my friend and told her what had happened. I was actually tempted to go back and asked for the 2nd guys name and complain about him because he was so rude. That bastard treated me like I’m a moron! He was not only rude to me but on the girl before me. It’s like, he’s not working in a PROFESSIONAL LICENSING AGENCY! But I was so mad that I just wanted to get out of that hellish place!

Thank God for my mother. She was the one who went and do my renewal for me. I couldn’t do it again.

Friday, March 23. I went to another government agency. This time, LTO (Land Transportation Office) here in Meycauyan, Bulacan to get my student driver’s license.

I was already expecting rude people because of my previous experience and knowing that this agency is dealing with all sorts of people. Professional, non-professional. College graduates, elementary drop-outs. You name it, they deal with them!

To my surprise, even the security guard was so helpful he even stapled my picture in my application form! All of them were so helpful. Hats off, really!

Although, it took me 2 hours for everything, it was such a pleasant experience.

I know there are still some government employees that are like the ones in LTO Meycauayan but sad to say that majority of the gov’t employees are really like the ones in PRC. Rude and lazy!!!
