Today, after shopping at a local grocery store I came out with about 4 plastic bags filled with the stuff I needed for dinner the next day. As I was walking along the pavement and looking around side to side at such a gorgeous day I noticed a bumper sticker on the back of a Chevrolet Silverado Truck. The bumper sticker infuriated me. It simply read: "Don't put my flag on your foreign car."
What? Are you kidding me? Does this person shop at K-Mart or Wal-Mart where they pay their employees sub poverty level wages and don't afford them health care insurance? Does this person have a foreign medical doctor when he or his children get sick? Does this person buy only American clothes or clothes only made in America by illegal aliens receiving a ridiculous wage per day?
How about groceries? Does he buy mangoes or papayas or does he stick strictly to the "home grown fruits" that seem to be any fruit you wish at any time of the year? Does he think these things are only grown in the good ole USA?
Finally, let's talk about his truck. I wonder does his truck have any foreign parts on it? My car is made in the USA, assembled in the USA, and is a "foreign car" with over 110,000 miles on it and running like a champ.
I wonder am I allowed to put an American flag on my car if I have a son or daughter in the service of my country, or does it only depend on the type of car you drive?
Please, lay your truck down in the service of your country and then lay your child down in the service of your country. Which one will get the flag draped casket? May you never need to do either.
The decal reminded me of a song written by John Prine, I'd like to send off a few words to all of you, whether you agree or disagree with me.
Your flag decal won't get you
Into heaven anymore
It's already over crowded
From your dirty little war
Now Jesus don't like killing
No matter what the reasons for
And your flag decal won't get you into heaven.....anymore.
