What is the HCG diet?

Posted Apr 29 2011 12:00am

I've been going on and on about the HCG diet thinking that everyone would know what it's about.

I received a comment/question asking what is the HCG diet, realizing that I failed to initially explain what it is for those who may not know!

HCG stands for Human Chorionic Gonadotropin, which is a hormone in both men and women, but pregnant women produces great amounts of it. HCG increases matabolism causing thousands of calories in stored fat to be released and expelled by the body.

Early on, the hormone was injected into your body by a doctor, but now one can take it in form of drops non prescription.

You are not to eat more than five hundred calories daily, there's a diet that can be followed and you take the drops a few minutes before each meal. If the diet is followed properly, you can lose one to three pounds daily.

It's important to follow a maintenance plan because the weight can be put back on if you go back to your old eating habits!

Again, I would recommend consulting with your doctor and if they're not aware of the diet, both of you can be educated together!
