Tipping

Posted Jun 13 2009 12:39am
We have decided tipping is racially biased and should be mandated and regulated by the government. No foolin, I was reading that tonight. It was tucked away in the bottom of a web page about Don Imus and his latest woes. Imus made comments about Pacman Jones that the Reverend Al Sharpton is waiting to see if he needs to comment on and get involved in. I can't wait for that one to hit all the front pages. White guy says bad things about black guy. Get your T-shirts, your buttons and you sandwich boards and join us for a march! No mention of the probably 20 young black guys killed by other black guys nationwide the same day.

So tipping is a problem I see. It said it went back to the Pullman porters who were paid less and depended on white people tipping them for the bulk of their salaries. Do they still have Pullman porters? I didn't see any on my last coast to coast train trip like Nick and Nora Charles used to make. Hell, I've never even been on a train, so it's not my fault.

The report said that blacks tip blacks less too. If you are an outraged black server, do you tip better then a black doctor? How do we mandate that? Do we decide how much people "think" the service they received was worth? Are blacks that don't tip blacks as much as they tip whites racist? Blacks tip Hispanics less then they tip whites. Is the NAACP rallying to stop this? My Lord, is anyone tipping anyone? Tell me my tax dollars didn't pay for any of these studies!

I've got a tip for you. We need to tell people like Reverend Al to we don't want to hear their opinions, just as we need to tell people who conduct studies that are worthless to leave us alone. My son and daughter work jobs that depend on tips. In the past 3 days they both had large parties of black patrons that took up the entire section they both were responsible for, and took up almost 3 hours of their potential tips. He got $5 for his effort and she got $7. Where is our spokesperson to say we got screwed? Our local branch of the N3ACP needs to get on the stick and be heard, the 15% we save may be your own!
