Mt. Greenwood resident Colleen Voith has been living withmultiple sclerosisfor 15 years. And while she gets unconditional love and support from her family, she also yearns to be with people who, like her, live with the disorder.
That's why she attends the multiple sclerosis fitness program at the Palos Health and Fitness Center inOrland Park.
The class is specifically designed for men and women with MS, an autoimmune disorder that attacks the central nervous system in unpredictable ways, often leading to blurred vision, loss of coordination and fatigue.
Using yoga and pool exercises, the center's instructors strive to strengthen participants' core muscles and balance. Classes run for about 45 minutes three times a week.
