cuts on side of mouth very dry mouth for 4 months what could it be?

I have terrrible cuts ( sores) on the sides of my mouth. My mouth is also very dry and my tongue seems cut too. Could this be from multiple sclerosis or something else? Diabetes runs in my family so I'm concerned about that as well.
