I have to say that MS is kicking my butt. Seriously. The fatigue is extreme, but yet I continue pushing, and I continue to keep looking up. I just can't do near as much as I used too. This exacerbation has been going on for two months now, and it doesn't seem to be getting any better, so I have a few questions: 1) How long does a typical exacerbation/relapse last, and when do you realize that the symptoms present are here to stay? 2) Will the Copaxone injections relieve symptoms or just help to prevent new ones? 3) During remission, is the fatigue still there or does that get better?
I haven't started the injections yet. The autoject arrived on Tuesday, and the Copaxone was supposed to arrive on Friday, but Thursday night the pharmacy let me know there was going to be a delay because they hadn't yet received the script from the neurologist. Then they are still in the process of trying to find a nurse in my area to go over the injections with me. Pain in the butt.
I was supposed to go back to work on Oct 1st, which is not happening, so I called the neurologist to see if he would fax another out-of-work note. While I had him on the phone, I asked a few questions and mentioned a few things to him that were going on. I told him that even if I do small things, like a little housework, my left arm goes numb, which sucks as the right arm is already numb. Also, my right foot and lower right leg go numb, and sometimes my face goes numb. I also mentioned that I've had a few episodes of extreme dizziness, which lasts for less than a minute, and the shocks when I move my head/neck are getting worse. He said to just get started on the Copaxone. I feel like he's not listening to me. What do you think?
Last weekend was a whirlwind of activity. Since I haven't been able to work for two months now, we decided to have a yard sale to get some extra cash. We sold some things that I really didn't want to part with, but we made some money, and they were just things anyway. That was Saturday.
Then Sunday we went to my parents house for an anniversary picnic, they've been married for 40 years!! Go Mom and Dad!! The picnic turned into more of a party when the alcohol started flowing. The funny thing is, I have the quote unde my blog title fomcomedien Ron White about vodka and lemonade, and I had my first ( and second, third, etc) vodka and lemonade at my parents house. Yummy!
Each day I try to plan a project to do in the house to keep me busy. I can only do a little each day, but I'm getting things done that needed to be done. I reupholstered a bench that is in out kitchen, cleaned out some rooms, that type of thing. Friday I decided to clean off the fridge because there was so much stuff on it. I took all the pictures, artwork, school schedules, etc and moved them to the side of the fridge, then washed it down. It ended up looking too stark and not homey, so I put a lot of it back. So much for the good intentions!!
This weekend has been pretty much just a relaxing weekend. We headed out yesterday for some shopping for just a few things, then dinner (just the two of us--yippee!), then came home to watch movies. Just laziness. It's great!
Hope you all are having a great weekend. Bye for now! Abby
