Hi Misty:
The pedometers handed out were unfortunately useless. Mine didn't last more than a week. The one I use is from Brookstone. It works great, although I did run the battery down, so it's time for a new battery.
I also use a pulse monitor, for the times I do cardio. It helps to know when to back down, or kick it up a notch. A neat thing about them is they also communicate with the elliptical cross trainer and recumbent bikes, so you can monitor your pulse while using that equipment. Since not all the handles have readers, this makes frees one up to exercise however desired.
Cheers,
Ken
HI Misty:
Not taking the class and have to replace the battery in my pedometer, but great job! Thanks for adding me to your friends list.
I walk about 10,000 steps a day, between work, noontime exercise and walking my dog each evening, but haven't gone for any records yet.
Guess thats next.
Cheers,
Ken

Stepping Out with Stanford class
What I've learned in 2 weeks with my Pedometer:
- a brisk 10 min walk will take over 1,000 steps
- a 1 hour long walk will take 7,000+ steps
- my highest number of steps in 1 day is 15,432
- Pre-SOwS class: total steps 41,324 for 4 days of tracking
- Week 1 of SOwS class: total steps 42,741 for 7 days of tracking
My long-term goal is 100,000 steps in a week and short-term is averaging at least 10,000 steps per day.
Is there anyone else out there on campus taking this class?
Stepping Out with Stanford...beginning April 21st. HIP has a program for us Campus Walkers. Since I am already hitting the pavement a few times each week during my lunch hour, this Online class seems like the perfect compliment to my Healthy Living plan.
Anyone who signed up for this class, I'd love to hear from you!
Misty
I know the contest is pretty silly, but I would love to win Wellsphere's Health Blogger Award
I would appreciate it if you could <a href="http://www.wellsphere.com/voteBlogger.s?bloggerId=92707">cast a vote for me.</a>
It might even boost your good karma.
