When my ankles are cold, the back of my ankle (achilles tendon?) tightens so much that I can't move it. Help!

Posted by kimbart777

When my ankles are cold, and sometimes just at random, what feels like my achilles tendon tightens up so much that I am unable to move the ankle without severe pain and fear of snapping the tendon!  I try to rub the ankle and try to work out the tightens.  Sometimes I am successful but sometimes it take an hour or so to return to normal.  When this happens, it normally happens often for a week or so.  I am 32 years old but this has been happening to me for many, many years but it seems to be worsening. Why does this happen; how can I stop it when it happens; and how can I prevent it from happening?
