Raw food has it's merits.
However......part of a healthy diet consists of consuming meat. If you do not you require supplements. Unfortunately, our food sources aren't clean enough anymore to consume raw meat. This is one downside to the raw diet.
Typically, a raw food diet (often referred to as a raw vegan diet) ists one where you eat freely of any raw (preferably organic) vegetables and fruit, as well as raw nuts and seeds and sprouts from beans, grains, and seeds.
While some raw vegans prefer to eat only non-processed foods, i.e, foods only in their natural states (not ground, grated, or combined into dishes with other foods), many enoy making complex dishes which appeal to a sophisticated pallet or mimic former cooked food favorites
People who adopt a raw vegan diet ordinarily include sprouts, many different kinds of dark leafy greens, and other vegetables as well as fruit of all kinds in their diets. Most raw vegans also enjoy juicing raw vegetables and fruit, and making green smoothies, liquid salads, and other blended vegetable/fruit beverages.
A raw vegan diet can be as simple or as complex as you like. You may prefer to eat things in their natural state (you can eat a bunch spinach or lettuce alone.) On the other hand, you may find yourself reading recipe books and concocting fancy recipes with raw vegetables, fruit, and nuts and seeds.
In a recent survey in a popular raw food magazine, most people who said they enjoy a raw vegan diet admitted to being only about 50% raw. Most raw vegan advocates would have you go 100% raw, but the choice is up to you. Many people attain to an 85% raw diet, qualifying as "high raw"). Most experts agree that a high raw diet is also a valid choice, either because that is what one prefers, or as a stepping stone to a totally raw diet.

Raw Food Diet is gaining popularity and buzz, not just as a diet to lose weight, but a diet for a long and healthy life. Most of us are used to consuming processed foods that sometimes, we hardly take notice of what is going into our bodies.
In a nutshell, a raw food diet means eating food in its natural, unprocessed form. So what are the benefits with raw food diet consumption? Processing and cooking food can take so much of the basic nutritional value away. Think of some of the conventional wisdom you’ve heard about for years, such as: If you cook pasta just to the al dente (or medium) stage, it will have more calories, yes, but it will have more the nutritional value in it than if you cooked it to a well-done stage. Or you probably remember hearing not to peel carrots or potatoes too deeply, because most of the nutrients and values are just under the surface. If your potatoes and carrots are organic, you don’t even need to peel off the skin.
