Ay caramba, its been a long day...
Today I played golf for the first time since my friend Sammy's wedding in 2000. Its been 9 years, and I was nervous. Pffffffffffffff... for nothing, I did great! I was fantastically surprised and proud of myself.
I was so nervous this morning that I almost bowed out. I didn't want to make a fool out of myself, yet I didn't want to miss an opportunity to play one of these amazing courses here at Casa de Campo.
Our host wanted me to play and paid my greens fees before I had the chance to think twice about it, so I had to play...
And I played my BUTT OFF!!!!
You know? Thats the thing about cowgirl spirit that I love. I summoned my cowgirl spirit this morning and told myself, "Casey, girlllllllllllllllll..... here's an opportunity of a lifetime. You can either bow out at the last minute and not play and you'll never know how you would have done. You'll never know the course, you'll never know how well you could have played.... who knows? Maybe you'll do great!".... and I did.
The guy I played against didn't have much to say. You know why? He never dreamed in a million years that I could play so well.... (little did he know that neither did I!)
However, I summoned my cowgirl spirit this morning and pushed myself to do something I was afraid to do, but wanted to do. I am glad I did. I wanted to play the course for my Dad's sake, so I could tell him all about it... I wanted to do it with little D (he went with me) and teach him something that has been so much fun for my Dad and something he's so good at it... of course I should have known, little D behaved like a grown adult and thoroughly enjoyed almost 5 hours on the amazing golf course!
It was a great way to end the vacation. Tonight we are having a party here at the house, complete with a band! It will be a great way to end our vacation as tomorrow we head back to the Lone Star State, which we all miss desperately....
You can take the ranchers out of Texas, but you can't take Texas out of us ranchers... (!)
