A gentleman who recently attended one of my stress management talks got in touch and told me:
“I was inspired by what you said about keeping it simple and taking baby steps. My office is just a few steps from the restroom. Instead of going right there, I walk down the hall, down two flights of stairs, around that floor, back up three flights of stairs before coming back down to my floor and hitting the men’s room. I even started tracking how often I do it and put a check mark next to the date when I do.”
That is music to my ears. Simple steps go a long way. Remember to start where you are rather than where you want to be. With consistent practice, eventually you’ll get there.
How can you incorporate more movement and opportunities to relieve stress into your day? Give yourself a break during the day even if you can’t leave the office. It not only feels good it will improve your focus, productivity and your health.
