Our mind gets tense and we can feel it as tension or stress. To reduce emotional stress, we need to first look at the possible causes of the emotional stress.
Mind has a capacity to perceive, feel, and think. When our mind is not in line or in-sync with the reality it can be a major cause of stress.
“The Reality does not struggle ! We may struggle from time to time and get stressed but the reality is , and it is relaxed !!”
It is said, perception is reality - is it really? Perception is only the perceived reality of the person who is perceiving it, in his or her own way. Reality is what it is. Reality does not change just because we perceive it in any particular way … through our filters of our previous experiences of thoughts, feelings, and perceptions, and our understanding of how things are.
Relaxing the mind:
- Acknowledge the facts - Speak to yourself - “Whatever I perceive , feel, and think is not likely the reality or the whole truth. By acknowledging this, I am releasing from most of the stress”. I choose to Let go …. relax and let go …..reelaxx and let go …….”
- Experience the remainder of the stress - Whatever stress is remaining, simply experience it as it is for a few moments quietly - that is your reality in that moment.
- Just notice your thoughts - For next few moments just notice your thoughts and allow them to come and go …. do not indulge in any thought or do not push any thought out in this part of the exercise - simply observe them.
- Relax your mind totally - Before we look at a highly effective method to reduce stress, let us take a minute to understand about mind and “The Reality”. Your mind is made up of your memory, perceptions, feelings, and thoughts, but it is not your true essence. Your true essence is the part of the absolute reality which is said to be the essence of all there is - also know as source of all. Relax your mind by letting these words and their meaning resonate with your essence, your true core - core of your being, and in the depths of your heart. Absolute reality can only be “One Reality” and all the words are just words pointing towards the same.
A highly effective stress reduction method (practice it often - experience less stress and more of “Real Life” - freedom from stress and be emotionally well).
- Slow down your breath and/or your thoughts - take some slow and deep breaths.
- Stay with your breath and observe it from beginning to end (of each complete breath - you will notice your thoughts will start slowing down).
- If you get distracted, simply bring your attention back in an alert and a gentle, relaxed manner.
Repeat this practice several times and you will be able to reduce your stress by relaxing your mind.
An important point - We must go beyond our intellectual understanding and practice it as long as needed to train ourselves and to experience the reality fully.
Remember, “The Reality” is not struggling or stressed - reality is what it is, without any struggle - So relax your mind completely - at least for a few moments. The Reality is, and is already relaxed
