Local Resource: Dancing Crow Yoga, Hingham, MA

dancing crow yoga logo There’s a new yoga studio in town and it’s called Dancing Crow Yoga .  With so many yoga studios and classes around the South Shore Massachusetts, Dancing Crow is a welcome addition.

Why?  Because it’s not heated or fast paced.  It’s accessible to all ages, levels, abilities.

Will you work hard?  Yes
Will you build some heat in your body?  Yes
Will you be treated kindly?  Yes
Will you feel good (no, great!) after class?  Absolutely

Owner Fay Sutherland started the studio to fill an unmet need for those who don’t always want a heated fast paced practice.  The studio offers something for all levels with a variety of class options, including:

Foundations – for beginners with no or very little yoga experience.  Or veteran practitioners seeking a much slower pace.

Level 1/2 – for those with some yoga experience, less instruction, and a more fluid pace.

Level 2/3 - for those with at least 1 year of practice, seeking the ultimate challenge. You will practice inversions, fore arm balances and more.

Having just opened at the end of March, classes here are still small and growing steadily, making it easy to receive personalized attention during class. Get in and enjoy that while you can!

The studio itself is located on the back side of the Derby St Shops behind Crate and Barrel, upstairs on the second floor.  It is accessible by elevator.  With a large open reception area, complete with eco-friendly yoga clothes and products, the initial impression is very yogic – spacious and free.

Walk through reception into a dressing area, with private dressing rooms and 2 large bathrooms. Complimentary lockers are available to keep your personal belongings, complete with a key you can bring into the studio with you.

Dancing Crow has two large studio rooms – the Sun room and the Moon room – both bright and clean, with no frills, and bio-sustainable cork floors.  Cream-colored walls allow for a peaceful and a distraction-free practice.

In the short time Dancing Crow has been open, I can see a caring community of yogi’s – new and veteran – forming.

Whether you are an early bird, have energy mid-day or prefer the after work wind-down, Dancing Crow offers classes as early as 6am, and as late as 6pm.  Saturday morning classes are available, and Sundays are coming for the fall.  And workshops are now being scheduled.

The introductory special can’t be beat (I took advantage of it!).  If you are a first timer to Dancing Crow you can enjoy 2 weeks of unlimited classes for just $35!  It’s a perfect low-risk opportunity to explore the studio and the practice while taking time to feel good about yourself.

If you live in the South Shore or Hingham area and have been curious but intimated by a lot of the yoga in the area, I encourage you to visit Dancing Crow in Hingham.  Maybe I’ll see you there.
