Buenos dias, mis amigos!
Here I am in the Dominican Republic, faithful to writing, just like I promised! So far there is not much to report of our vacation, just that I am suffering from a horrible headache, little D has had a terrible cold come on all of the sudden, and big D is a walking zombie...
I think it has to do with the stress we've all been under and it will take a couple of days to calm down, catch up on rest and relaxation, and then we'll be feeling much better.
Life here is like a fairytale. For those that don't know, we are visiting friends who have an incredible home on the coast of the Dominican. Its another world, really. The sounds, smells, and view of the ocean have already started to work on my psyche. Although I have a horrible headache, I already feel more peaceful than I have in months. It looks like rain today but I'm hoping that the sun will show its face soon and let me sit outside and drink it in.
There's talk of playing the back 9 today at the Pete Dye course here at Casa de Campo. I am hoping that I get a chance to play this beautiful course. I've wanted to play it the past two times we've been here, but have not had the chance! Today might be my lucky day!!
Yesterday I wasn't so lucky. Our friends weren't here when we arrived, they were here:
This is the largest privately-owned yacht in the world. It is parked right outside the house, and I would have loved the tour (and the helicopter tour!) To give you an idea of the scale, this boat is one-and-a-half city blocks in length! He has 70 employees just for this boat. Oh yeh, he.... The owner of this monster is Paul Allen, co-founder of Microsoft!
I will upload more photos of the boat when I get my camera cable hooked up. I took a great one yesterday of the helicopter landing. Neat.
OK: with that, I leave you. I am going to go check and see if the sun is out yet. Check back daily!
