Is Health a State of Mind?

Posted by Dr. V .. Doctor of Chiropracty

Why do some people seem to go on, for what seems like forever, without getting sick? Why do others appear to be sick every time you see them or hear about them from someone else?

On another tangent, we have the people who appear to be hypochondriacs and thinking they have a health problem all the time yet show no signs consistent with the issue they seem to think they have. Please don't misunderstand me. Their problems might just not be what they think they are.

In today's newsletter from Joseph Mercola, M.D., of Mercola.com, he talks about how 48 Percent of1_29placebo Doctors Admit to Prescribing Placebos Just to Shut You Up. He states in the article that you have a 50-50 chance of receiving a prescription that is actually a placebo. The findings in the studies conducted, are profound. The sources for his article are listed below.

Is health a state of mind? According to a very high percentage of the doctors in those studies, it appears to be. So, if the medical profession seems to agree that there is a mind-body connection to health, then their opinions in the use of placebos, once again, support what Doctors of Chiropractic have been saying and teaching, in accordance with their philosophy of health and in the delivery of the chiropractic adjustment, for almost 113 years. The chiropractor's objective: To "jump-start" the mind-body connection to enhance that person's ability to adapt to the different kinds of stress affecting them and their health.

With so many placebos being prescribed by your medical doctor, could it be that she just does not have the answers for you or is it that she just wants you to stop bothering her? Or, are they finally trusting nature to do its thing like chiropractors have been offering us since 1895?

Interesting article...though as one commenter pointed out, you do not have a 50/50 chance of being prescribed a placebo by your doctor. What the study states is that almost half of doctors surveyed said they used placebos with patients. This does not mean they prescribe placebos 50 percent of the time. Your chances of getting prescribed a placebo vary from doctor to doctor and may only be 1% as opposed to 50%.
