Christmas is over and in a few days’ time, we’ll be entering a New Year! Have you been enjoying your gourmet lunches and dinners over the festive? If you had, good on you! As long as you don’t over indulge, that won’t take a toll on your health. But if you have over indulge, maybe it’s time to seek for some holistic treatment or ways to lose those extra pounds.
With New Year approaching, it’s time to reflect on our personal goals, including what we had done for our health and body. Personally, I had few bouts of respiratory problems this year even though I had been very careful with my diet and lifestyle. I took up Pilates Fitness early this year and it had helped me with my breathing. Swimming was a good cardio exercise for me though I wasn’t sure if that had affected my lung health, due to bacteria and germs in the water.
My cholesterol levels hasn’t been too satisfactory so I need to be careful on that. There are holistic ways to lower cholesterol including choosing the right foods and exercising. Choose foods that contain low saturated fat. Saturated fat can be found in foods from animals, such as poultry, meat, lard and vegetable oils like palm oil, coconut and palm kernel. While renewing our pet insurance that day, I talked to someone with cholesterol issues and she was sharing how omega-3 and omega-6 can help to normalize your blood cholesterol level and can help you maintain good health.
The best diet would be choosing foods which are low in saturated fat. The solution to this is choosing foods that are rich in fiber such as vegetables, fruits and grains. They do not add cholesterol to your body but they help you maintain a healthy diet. Choose the foods that are low in cholesterol.
So whatever your health goals are for the next year, be realistic and make an effort to follow through. I’ll continue to seek holistic treatment for my allergies while making a shift on my lifestyle such as sleeping earlier and taking things easy. Anxiety can have detrimental effects on our health!
