Fat Friendly/Biased Doctors

Posted Jan 17 2010 4:55pm
I feel that as patients, we do not have enough access to information about our doctors before we meet with them for the first time. We often have to go blindly in and only after paying an expensive co-pay learn if a doctor if the doctor is compatible and good for us. We also don't learn if they are fat friendly or fat biased until it comes time to diagnose us or interpret test results. Sometimes, not even then. We may find out later through other doctors and the letters they write, after years of terrible treatment.

I recognise that doctors are people and subject to bias like everyone else. Well, I have a bias against doctors who are not fat friendly and accepting.

I am listing two fat biased here, so that my readers know before seeing them. I am basing this opinion based on my own negative treatment by them. I will not go into details here, but I will privately if someone needs/wants more information. I was originally undecided about doing this, but I feel it may be more helpful than not. If any of my readers has had a different experience with these doctors, I encourage them to share it.

The doctors areDr Gary Agia, a Pulminologist in Sewell, NJ
Dr Adrienne Hollander, a Rhumetologist in Voorhees, NJ
