PilatesDancing takes the concepts of Pilates connections of core and the limbs to dancing. We train from the bottom of the foot, a dynamic Pilates mat/floor barre, standing workout and then apply the themes of the class to an adagio.
Foot training includes releasing tension, strengthening the foot and the mechanics of the foot in movement. We bring the new foot connections back to standing. As the foot become better connected and grounded, alignment and core tone changes.
Pilates mat and floor barre includes strengthening the core three dimensionally in a dynamic movement routines on the floor. This includes challenges of balance and level changes which demand more core than doing exercises on your back.
“Embodied anatomy improves Function” Eric Franklin. Lesley Powell brings in her studies with The Franklin Method, BodyMind Centering and Bartenieff Fundamentals to teach students proper function. Great function invites better fitness, connections and expression.
A standing warm up, we challenge balance and understand the importance of the standing/working leg.. We end with an adagio. The purpose of the adagio is to practice the themes of the class that day.
