Are there rewards for relaxing and going with the flow?
In my opinion - ALWAYS!
Yesterday my calendar was full from 6:00 a.m. - 7:30 p.m. I had a “to do list”, 4 classes, 1 client call and 2 massages on the schedule.
Then Tanner took a sick day. Day care called his mommy to pick him up because he was running a fever and day care refused to take him for 24 hours.
For a single mom, not having day care is a BIG DEAL so I stepped up to the plate and volunteered to take Tanner for the day as long as I was relieved of duty by 4:00 p.m.
There’s nothing so needy as a one year old with a fever! All Tanner wanted to do was lay on my lap.
WHAT ABOUT MY SCHEDULE!
After a few moments of struggling with surrender, I packed up Tanner, the MacBook and iPhone and headed into the master bedroom. Tanner & I set up camp on Mawmaw & Pawpaw's BIG bed for most of the day.
It was perfect. Tanner was happy to be close and patted. He took two naps. I was happy to intermittently be able to work.
Oh, yes! The reward?
When Pawpaw came home to relieve me at 4:00 p.m., I walked outside for a moment. Tanner was being contained in the highchair to eat a snack. When I came back in through the door, Tanner saw me. He lit up with a smile with his glistening white baby teeth grinning at me.
The snapshot of that picture in my mind made me smile for the rest of the evening.
Yes, there are great rewards for going with the flow . . .
