(Saving you a Google....that's what girls & boys are called in Judo)
Superboy has been in Judo for 2 months, Drama Queen for 1. And they *love* it. DQ bought her Gi after her first class.
There are 2 other kids who are the same age/size as SB, and I think this is going to be good for him. He's a bit timid in class--which is surprising for those who know how energetic he is. But he's making friends and is pretty strong for his size.
Drama Queen.....whoa. Never in a million years would I have guessed that she would have a natural talent for Judo. She is *good* and is making quite an impression on the Senseis and other students, especially those who rank above her. She can take on the oldest girl, and hold her own. And she is a good sport, but she sure does love beating the boys LOL. During one match, the owner of the school made a comment about her talent, and that of the other 2 girls in class, and then said, "I think we may have some contenders for the Junior Olympics". I had to pick my jaw off the ground! Last week, some of the moms were in awe that she's only been here for a month and couldn't believe she'd never been in martial arts before. Yeah I popped a few buttons ;)
She adores volleyball, but I think this is good for her in so many ways, and I see a spark during Judo that isn't quite the same as during VB. I wish I could have had half her confidence and strength at her age.
Today, she had 4 permanent teeth removed--in two weeks, she's getting braces. Naturally we spoiled her today, with flowers, ice cream, and the tooth fairy is going to be pretty generous tonight ;)
My inlaws took SB for the day, so she could rest. He had a BLAST, visiting the airport, and an arcade. He even used some of his tickets to buy DQ a "get well present" ::melt::
Willow is up to almost 30 lbs, and will be 5 months old December 1st. We've decided her family tree is: Belgian Malinois, Golden Retriever, and Hound. There was something about the Shepherd label that didn't quite fit, and thanks to a dog show on Animal Planet, I pieced it together. She and Cassie have finally bonded--Cassie has been grooming her, even nipping her to "stay still" when she gets antsy ROFL. I can't wait to start training classes after the holidays.
Looking forward to Thanksgiving--I missed it last year, due to a nasty stomach bug. We're going to stay in town with my inlaws, and then travel to see my parents on Friday. I may get a chance to see "Across the Universe" again and take GM with me (yay!). I've listened to the soundtrack, oh, at least 30 times lol. I'm a Beatles fan, who knew? Hoping to get another knitting lesson from my MIL--I want to knit some fingerless gloves. Between the pain and the cold, I think they will feel good and still let me work on the computer, play the piano, etc. Wish me luck ;)
OH and I hit 30,000 on my Blog counter :D
Happy Thanksgiving!!
