One Step at a time

Posted Aug 25 2008 3:02pm
I'm waiting for my piano student to arrive, and find that I'm barely able to keep my tears at bay. Emotions are funny, fickle things.

We saw my MIL yesterday and she looked good, all things considered. The steroids and radiation are doing their job. She can walk in a straight line (she was falling before diagnosis) and aside from having to slow down, and brief tears (which we assured her would not upset the kids--goodness knows they see *me* cry enough), she really seemed ok. I think having the kids there did her good, and I know it made the kids feel better.

We found out more about future treatment--right now, the radiation is targeting the entire brain. She'll get another scan next week, and then they will do focused radiation on the tumors themselves. The side effects aren't supposed to be as bad. Let's hope.

Thank you to everyone for their thoughts, prayers and kind words. We all appreciate them so much, and I wish I could give you all a giant hug IRL.
