I KNOW I Can, So Take That, Migraines!

Posted Nov 16 2011 12:00am

EngineThatCould Today's Health Activist Writer's Month Challenge is one that I can easily apply to living with Migraines. The challenge is to write a "Little Engine Post," as in The Little EngineThat Could.

We're to write 10 to 15 lines that begin with "I think I can..." and five lines that begin with "I know I can." I must say here that what I'm writing isn't inspired only by what I've personally experienced living with Migraines. It's also experienced by the many brave, persistent, and determined people I know who also live with Migraine disease. The World Health Organization has say that a severe Migraine attack can be as debilitating as hemiplegia. Yes, I'm often inspired by the Migraineurs I know.

So, here goes...

I think I can...

  1. reach more people with Migraine and other headache disorders who need help.
  2. be more active in the online activism community.
  3. do more podcasts about Migraine and other headache disorders.
  4. get back to sending out my personal newsletter on a weekly basis.
  5. be less anxious about traveling out of town for conferences.
  6. improve the effectiveness of my Migraine preventive regimen.
  7. do better managing other health conditions, especially given that they impact everything else.
  8. get my Migraine frequence back down to one per month or less.
  9. reduce the number of tension-type headaches I'm having,
  10. do a better job controlling the nausea that accompanies my Migraines.

I KNOW I CAN...

  1. utilize my time better to help more people with Migraine and other headache disorders.
  2. do more to help the organizations I belong to,
  3. work with my doctor to improve my Migraine management and quality of life.
  4. make a difference in people's lives by encouraging and inspiring tgen to keep the faith, work with their doctors, and live better, depsite Migraine or other headache disorders.
  5. Maintain my integrity, lack of commercial bias, and autonomy while doing all of the above.
