It may be what's called allodynia. That's when this that normally are NOT painful become painful. It's often a symptom of Migraine.
Do mention this to your doctor at your next appointment.

I'm with Teri. I've had migraines for years but only recently started showing signs of allodynia. As far as I know, allodynia in itself is not a threat, just a pain to deal with.
Mentioning it to your doctor will be useful to you both.
I started getting pain and itchiness on one side of the back of my scalp about 3 weeks ago. There are little bumps where it hurts. Seems to be moving gradually upwards. The pain is like the sting of nettles, with tenderness around the area, but there is no discoloration or evidence of bites.
Then my neck lymph nodes became swollen, mainly on the same side. The doctor has given me antibiotics, which seem to be slowly helping with the lymph nodes, but the scalp pain is getting worse. He's now sent me for blood tests for "common infections" such as HIV and herpes. Strange given that my lifestyle doesn't suggest STDs. Is he on the right track?
I have the same symptoms as sc, but have not seen a Dr yet. No insurance. Would appreciate help to narrow this down

I have migraines on the right side of my head. My migraines can last for days. It's like a cycle. When I get them, they stay for days. I've had MRIs, MRA,s, CatScans on my sinuses, you name, I've had it. I've been to a Chiropractor and no luck! I think I can control them as long as I take something as soon as I feel them coming on. My doctor put me on Fioricet which seems to help alot. I've also had tenderness at the top of my scalp on the right side. It doesn't happen all the time but I have noticed that when I get it, it is after I've had a bout of migraines. However, I did notice that I had tenderness a couple of days ago, no headache, but I had an ear ache. Don't know if it was associated together but I suspect it was. My ear ache left at the same time my tenderness left. Just thought I would share. I really don't have any answers either.

I have a pain on my skull or scalp, which is slightly worse if pressure is applied. It is the same sensation that I used to get as a child when I had my hair pulled back into a pony tail, but I haven't worn my hair like that for about 15 years now. It's a patch on the top right of my skull/scalp.
Does anyone have any idea what this is?
