I really don't know how in the WORLD it is almost 2012. Seriously. Time Flies doesn't even fit it...it's more like Time Goes At Warp Speed.
2011 was one of those years that started out like a lamb, and nearly ended a roaring lion of a hurricane.
My kids turned 9 and 16, and started 4th and 11th grade. Judoqueen is DRIVING for pete's sake. Just learner's so far but STILL.
JQ, JediBoy and their dad still do Judo. JQ made national ranking for the first time.
JB began gifted (2nd half of 3rd grade).
JB tested negative for lobster on his bloodtest!
JQ made National Honor Society.
JB, at Thanksgiving, decided he knew "all about Santa" (ie US). On Dec 24 he did an about face, making sure cookies and soynog were left out. Better safe than sorry!
My nephew, PoohBear, turned 2, and can now "say" my name! I am in heaven!!
Willow turned 4.
I began freelance promotional work and continued with book and product reviews. I started The Manicured Slayer, my Beauty Blog! Tune in for giveaways soon!
JudoMan and I celebrated our 19th anniversary. I turned 41 and dyed my hair with Manic Panic.
I kissed a girl and I liked it. I was able to come to terms with my sexuality as well.
Then....there were the rough times.....
JudoMan got laid off in September after 19 yrs with a very large defense company. Yeah I'm still very bitter.
After a disasterous trial on methotrexate, I had to switch to Enbrel for my Psoriatic Arthritis/Ankylosing Spondylitis.
I tried to have a uterine ablation--now known as the Failblation.
I had hernia Surgery earlier this month, and I'm still recovering. It's caused a horrible flare up of my chronics.
JQ broke up with her boyfriend.
I continue to miss my Grandma terribly.
My final migraine medication failed.
But....just as always.....things got better and look up for 2012 JM got a job (he started today!) and while this means a whole lot of changes we can't wait to dance around that first paycheck! He'll be working in an office full-time after 12 yrs of telecommuting. We'll have a new insurance, and right now, only have one car. We hope to get a 2nd car when it's time for tax refunds!
JQ has her sights set on Brown University--Ivy League! She's going to take the SAT/ACT in coming months, and get her permanent license. *faint* She continues to volunteer at the city nursery, mentor underpriviledged students (especially girls in science, her passion), and participate in A-Team, Epicurian Club, Spanish Club, Art Club, Gay Straight Alliance, as well as study her ass off. She's still 10th in her class! I can't believe my daughter will be a Senior in the fall! I *remember* being a senior! We're already talking about a graduation party ;)
JB's grades are improving as his teachers work with him and his organization and attention. He is getting better at judo as well! He has his "secret move" that really serves him well in matches! He's doing great in music class learning the recorder (on my recorder which was then passed to both of my sisters). We hope to work in more violin (dad) and piano (me) lessons so he'll be ready to audition for the choir next year at school. I can't believe he's going to be 10--no more single digits! I swear, both of them were just babes in arms weeks ago.....
We have adopted a rat. Her name is Ratatouille, Tooey for short. More on Tooey in another post!
I will be attempting Botox for my migraines, insurance permitting. And as many side effects as there are from it, I can't WAIT to get back on my Enbrel. It really does work wonders and I hurt like crazy without it.
We hope to finally adopt a pug! And Merry & Pippin, my parrotfish chiclids, may soon be getting tankmates and an extreme tank makeover.
I can't wait to work on quilts, jewelry and other craft items, some for me, some for The Crafty Angel!
I will be examining some extreme makeover for myself--it just depends on finding the right doctor and managing it with my husband's new work schedule.
JQ will go tour Brown University and may have an internship with MD Anderson in Texas with my sister this summer.
JB will have skin tests, and hopefully oral challenges for his food allergies. This is both extremely exciting and scary, not to mention the discomfort from the testing itself.
With no vacation time, JM and I will be having lots of "staycation" time on the weekends. I'll be home alone until the kids get home--this is a huge adjustment, did I mention that? LOL
I will turn 42. The answer to life, the universe and everything! I wish....
I'm sure there are things that I'm forgetting. It's been A YEAR.
Thank you to all my lovely readers, may you and yours be blessed in 2012!!
