Psychosis can be a mental illness in itself or symptom of another mental or physical illness. All share a distorted sense of ojective reality. It may include delusions and/or hallucinations. Delusions are thought disorders where there is an impaired sense of reality. Hallucinations generally are seeing and hearing things that others do not see or hear. However, it can include any of the senses including smell and taste. Again, reality is distorted. To someone in any of these states, it is as real as the eyes you are reading this with. Paranoia often coexists due to the distortion of reality.
