Study Improves Evidence that Green Environment Aids Mental Health

Posted Oct 22 2009 10:04pm

A GoodTherapy.org News Headline

Numerous studies have been conducted suggesting that a consistent exposure to green spaces throughout the day can have a positive impact on general well-being and health, and this concept has promised to be especially true in the case of mental health. Recently, a study performed at the EMGO Institute at the VU University Medical Centre in Amsterdam added its body of evidence to the growing reserve. The study sought, and achieved, a confirmation of self-reported improvements in physical and mental health as a result of exposure to greener environments through the administration of general practice physician diagnostic criteria. With the positive results produced by the study, the prevalence of natural environments within urban settings may become greater.
