I only mention this article because I'm in awe at the pace of scientific progress. This study, which discusses how stimulating a certain region of the brain allows individuals to overcome cognitive deficits brought on by sleep deprivation, may not seem like much, but I think it is one more sign of the incredible pace science is progressing at. Sleep is a cornerstone act of human functioning - we need it, we function better with it, and people spend billions of dollars per year trying to sleep better. We are now not only learning why we need sleep , but possible ways to overcome sleep deprivation, as well as generalizing these results to other ares (such as dementia). I can only imagine where medicine, science, and research will be in 20 years...
