Short-Term Stress Impairs Learning and Memory

From the "I've been teaching this for awhile, glad I've got science to back me up now" file, this study reports that short-term stress, lasting as little as a couple of hours, can interfere with memory formation.  Previous research has focused on the impact of longer-term stress, which has been implicated in memory difficulties for some time.  In particular, therapists working with trauma victims can attest to the difficulties these people will sometimes have with recall of events during, prior to, and just after the trauma.  This article briefly explains why...
