Please LISTEN, LISTEN, LISTEN ! ! !

Posted Sep 14 2009 9:50am
Some argue that the power of the spoken word is greater than the written word and others claim just the opposite. What's important to me at this time, is that I have the pleasure of being able to offer you a link which will allow you to listen to me speak at the AUTHOR'S SERIES at the Westport, Ct. Public Library, where I talked about my experience writing my memoir, FOUR ROOMS, UPSTAIRS: A Psychotherapist's Journey Into and Beyond Her Mother's Mental Illness and engaged the audience in a question and answer session addressing a variety of issues relating specifically to mental illness, illness in general, and resources available to assist families in these current, critical times.

To download the MP3 file, please enter the site at www.westportlibrary.org/events/podcasts.(Scroll down until you see a photo of me along with a brief description of the book and the day of the event which reads: Wednesday, October 29, Linda Appleman Shapiro discussed her book Four Rooms, Upstairs: A Psychotherapist's Journey Into and Beyond Her Mother's Mental Illness, a compelling family history addressing issues of love, loss and loyalty. Then just click and download to listen!)

Also, I had the extreme pleasure of receiving copies of the soon to be released audio book of my memoir, narrated by Suzanne Toren and introduced by my husband George Guidall. For those of you who have already read my memoir, if you would like to experience it in another art form - the spoken word - or for those who might prefer to listen first, I urge you to go to your local library where copies should be available this week after December 10th. If your library does not yet have them available, please ask them to order directly from Recorded Books, Inc.

Please know that all the reviews and comments I've received from readers attest to what I had always wished to accomplish. Readers world-wide are finding FOUR ROOMS to be living proof that, with help, it is possible to move through and beyond trauma ... and since my goal in sharing my story has always been to give people hope, that is why I am reaching out to all of you in cyberspace.

It is with humility and gratitude that I ask you all to spread the word and listen, listen, listen (1) to my library presentation and (2) to the actual audio book ... and know that, as always, I welcome hearing from all of you.

With best wishes for a happy, healthy holiday season.

Yours, Linda Appleman Shapiro
