I've been blogging in the health community for a few years now. Before I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia I blogged about my obsessive-compulsive disorder and depression. Before I blogged about my mental illness I blogged about infertility and obesity.
While I generally label myself a lifestyle or humor blogger, there's no denying that special place I have within the health blogging community. Because everyone is welcome here. You're not turned away due to the severity or (lack thereof) of your illness. It is a network of activists, survivors, and supporters.
This year I have nominated several of my fellow health bloggers for the WEGO Health Activist Awards . Bloggers who have shared with me (and the worldh their fight to survive while living with chronic illnesses. Men and women have not only giving me advice, support, and tips for my own illnesses, but some who have had a large impact on my life and survival.
Want very much to be a part of that community. To be someone who can save a life merely by sharing their own experiences. Because someone else shared their experiences with me and it has in fact saved my life.
